There There
During a harrowing hospital stay, I distracted my unquiet mind with drawing. Using a two-handed drawing process, I would mark the right side with controlled strokes, then struggle to echo those marks on the left with my non-dominant hand. Right hand, left hand, right, left, etc. For some reason, this call-and-response drawing method had a calming, meditative effect. Long after recovery, I continued to make these mirrored, two-handed drawings.

This series is titled with the soothing phrase "There There"—a reference to the process as well as my therapeutic needs.
